Peter brings 35 years of senior editorial leadership within BBC's global news operation. As BBC Africa Bureau Chief (2009–2014), he oversaw news operations across 47 African countries with 100+ reporters and producers, serving 91 million weekly viewers. He launched Focus on Africa — the BBC's nightly African news programme.

As World Assignments Editor (1996–2006), he managed major global deployments during 9/11 and the Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts. As Editor of the BBC World Affairs Unit (2006–2009), he managed 40+ prominent foreign correspondents including John Simpson, Jeremy Bowen, Fergal Keane, and Frank Gardner.

Landmark Achievements

1. BBC Nelson Mandela Project

Directed a 100-person team through 10-day global funeral coverage, earning the Sony Gold Award.

2. Focus on Africa

Launched the BBC's flagship nightly African news programme, expanding the BBC's African audience to 91 million weekly viewers.

3. Education Sub Saharan Africa (ESSA)

Co-Founded a pan-African education charity partnering with the Bosch Foundation, Cambridge University, and the African Association of Universities.

4. Board Memberships

Serves on the boards of African Leadership University, Wild Impact (wildlife conservation), and Humanity & Inclusion UK.

Chris brings 40+ years across print, television, digital, and radio. His 27-year career in Africa covering 20+ countries specialises in trade, investment, and mining narratives. He was the founding editor of Forbes Africa and digital publication Billionaire Tomorrow, and served as the first Head of News and Current Affairs at Botswana TV.

A trusted voice at the world's most significant economic forums, Chris has presented at the World Economic Forum (Davos and Africa), the IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, the EU–Africa Business Conference in Brussels, and the Economist Africa Business Conference in Dubai.

Launched the first African edition of Forbes in 2011, redefining how the world covers African business and wealth. Still published today.
